Every Thursday, a period is allotted to the sports activity. Students may opt for any activity from a given list. Basket Ball Skating Chess Karate Gymnastics Yoga Zumba Archery Athletics Football Volleyball Throw ball In the capable hands of our expert coaches, these physical cultures bring about in students the invaluable competitive spirit, team work and those rare lessons in life that can only be experienced. With respect to this, students are encouraged to participate in the Inter School Competitions in the twin cities. 1. Dodging and dribbling; stretching and shooting! Growing stronger, sharper and smarter – playing Basketball 2. Roller Skating is recognized among the best overall aerobic exercises, involving all the body’s muscles, including the heart. It is equivalent to jogging in terms of health benefits, calorie burning and reduction of body fat and leg strength development. Just one hour of moderate roller skating burns 330 calories for a 143-pound person. If that same person roller skates vigorously, he or she will burn up to 590 calories in an hour. 3. Chess as an activity is very popular with the DSE students. It helps them relax yet at the same time, sharpens their thinking skills and helps them with their strategy. 4. Karate is a martial art that originates from Korea. It combines combat techniques, self-defense, sport, exercise, and in some cases meditation and philosophy. 4. DSE offers Archery as one of the activities. Archery combines fun and tradition with the great outdoors. Using state-of-the-art equipment, and under the watchful eye of our professional instructors students are trained. 5. Students of DSE are very fond of Cricket. They are trained to compete with other schools during Inter-School tournaments which improve endurance, stamina, physical fitness and hand eye-coordination. This game is good for developing team skills. 6. “Yoga everyday keep dangers at bay “. With this intention, DSE offers Yoga as one of the activities for Grades V – X.
