The school student cabinet was recently invested with their duties and responsibilities at a grand investiture ceremony wherein the newly elected student council members pledged to work earnestly and uphold the honour and glory of the institution.
At DSE, we believe all our students should be capable of exercising leadership in different contexts. The more leadership is encouraged, the more it flourishes.
To empower the newly inducted student body with the necessary knowledge, skills and attributes necessary to become effective leaders, a Student Leadership Program was organized at DSE, Attapur which was facilitated by Dr. Narayan B. Iyer, the CEO & National Co-ordinator of Indian Development Foundation also known as IDF.
Dr. Narayan B. Iyer held the audience captive with his talk on who is a leader, and what exactly is leadership. He narrated anecdotes from his own life and experiences and made the session an engaging one. To motivate the students he said, “You aspire, you inspire and you become a legend.” He also wanted the students to have the passion and hunger to go after what they wanted.
A Student Leadership Programme provides students with the opportunity to develop leadership and communication skills, goal setting, time management techniques and to collaborate more effectively in teams.
It’s important for students to experience leadership opportunities during their schooling, to learn the art of building relationships within teams, defining identities and achieving tasks effectively. It also provides an opportunity to learn, to identify and display effective communication and interpersonal skills.
The session was attended by Ms. K Rama Devi, Secretary DSE group of Institutions, Ms. Shashikala, Academic Director, DSE group of Institutions, Mr. Sanjay Ram, Project Coordinator, IDF, Telangana state, Principal Mr. Augustine Thomas, Vice Principal Ms. Bharti Rao and Headmistress Ms. Lakshmi Gowri.
There was an open forum where the students were invited to ask their queries. The event concluded with the Principal thanking Mr. Narayan Iyer profusely for the enriching session.
