The International Year of Indigenous Languages is a United Nations observance in 2019 that aims to raise awareness of the consequences of the endangerment of Indigenous languages across the world, with an objective to establish a link between language, development, peace, and reconciliation.

The International Year of Indigenous Languages targets to focus attention on the risks confronting indigenous languages, especially those significant for development, reconciliation, good governance and peace building.

In alignment with this observance of the United Nations, Delhi School of Excellence, Attapur decided to have class assemblies based on the diverse languages of India.

The commemoration of the International Year of Indigenous Languages started with the language ‘Hindi’ and followed by “Bangla’.
