Imagination is a key part of every childhood. Music, dance and hue strokes are the expressions of life and art defines who we are as persons.

Visual and Performing Arts was introduced to explore the intellectual and practical variety of artistic techniques and styles in students. The school has introduced Art & Craft, Dance, Music and Expressions (Drama) under VPA. The objective is to explore their talents and help learners express themselves in creative and imaginative ways.

ART & CRAFT

Art is a medium to express themselves without restraint. Brush & strokes, the classical style of drawing develops a command of thoughts and enhances the confidence level in the drawing and painting work. Art emphasises ideas, feelings, and visual qualities where as Craft emphasises the right use of tools and materials.

DANCE – SHIFTING MOSIACS

Dance is a great way to connect emotionally. At DSE dance is also a form to keep the body fit and mind relaxed. Different forms of dance are given preference to enable students to feel relaxed and fit The learning processes in the arts revolve around doing and making, using the body, voice, and symbols to imagine and to represent meaning through the integration of thoughts, sensations, symbols and gestures.

MUSIC – SONGS FOR SMILES

Music breathes life into every existence. Students are taught variety of musical notes which helps them develop not only a love for music but also improve their concentration. DSE believes in music therapy to help students focus on their studies properly.

EXPRESSIONS 

Expression (Drama) is the stage at which students are introduced to theatre and related crafts to broaden their understanding of drama. Theatre and performing art and the various forms of expressions are dealt with. Students learn to write scripts, enact and express themselves more proficiently

Our education has got to be revolutionized. The brain must be educated through the hand. If I were a poet, I would write poetry on the possibilities of five fingers. Those who do not train their hands, who go through the ordinary rut of education, lack MUSIC in their life.

At DSE, we follow activity oriented teaching in various subjects to inculcate the skills among the students.

Hands – on learning takes place in Work Experience session. Students can choose from a range of activities such as Meal Planning, Jewellery Making, Dress Designing, Wealth out of Waste Commercial Art and Textile Designing. The mentors guide them in a step by step approach so as to ensure good learning. The outcome can be seen in the form of the products at the end of each session.

MEAL PLANNING –  COOKING WITH LOVE PROVIDES FOOD FOR THE SOUL

Meal planning is the implementation of the principles of nutrition in one’s daily diet in an appetizing way. It helps to plan the meals considering the nutritional needs of the family, within their budget. Students at DSE are taught how food can be prepared using a number of methods which impart different appearance, taste and nutritive value to it.

CRAFTY KIDS: CRAFTING EACH DAY… KEEPS THE CRAZY AWAY

 Being creative is not an art; it’s a way of life.  Students at DSE learn art techniques through fun and simple craft projects. Our custom-designed projects encourage children’s curiosity and foster their limitless potential for learning. Our mini artists discover all they can do with their natural talents!

JEWELLERY MAKING: WORKING WITH NIMBLE FINGERS

 Creativity and vision are of no real value without the practical skills to bring them to reality. During these classes students learn how to work with beads, gems and other tools. They are also taught how to design and create necklaces, rings, earrings and other types of jewellry.

DRESS DESIGNING /TEXTILE DESIGNING: THE NEED OF THE DAY

 Fashion is part of the daily air and it changes all the time. At DSE students try their hands on learning about sewing techniques, fabrics and material, colours and design skills.

SEWA -LEARNING TO LIVE TOGETHER

 In a globalized world, it is important that each learner needs to realize that no person is an island and must live as a confident, competent and contributive citizen of a vibrant society. Keeping this in mind, students take up projects which focus on developing social consciousness through simple meaningful work at the individual level and actions at cohort level.

COMMERCIAL ART: ART FOR A PURPOSE

Students are given a hand on experience on creating images, graphic designs, logos, posters etc to develop the ability to organize information and knowledge of fine arts and media in a way to reach audience’s attention.

INTERIOR DESIGNING:  BRINGING IMAGINATION TO LIFE

Colour doesn’t add a pleasant quality to design –it reinforces it. In these classes students are taught the basics of colour dynamics, fabrics, space management etc in order to develop not just their creative skills but also the technical knowledge that enhances the interior of a building to achieve a healthier and more aesthetically pleasing environment.

 POTTERY:  GET YOUR HAND DIRTY

 To discover the ‘artists on Clay’ students are guided through the basics of how to use the potter’s wheel and the way to mould the mix into a desired shape. A sneak peek into a potter’s life, the exhilaration of learning something new and the satisfaction of creating magic with their own hands would definitely be an enchanting experience for the students.

WEALTH OUT OF WASTE: THINK … RETHINK… AND REUSE

 Utilizing the best from unwanted things has become a generic necessity of every human’s life. Students are taught several art and craft ideas from waste materials and other art materials. These craft from waste materials would incorporate the value of building a greener future.

The all-round development of the students takes place when they carry themselves beyond the horizons of academics.
At DSE, students explore wide range of club activities for their holistic development. Students are groomed and channelled into their field of interest by the clubs that are open for them. This year, students have varied options at their class level. These club activities have been designed to enhance logical thinking, perception and application.

HERITAGE-PRESERVING YESTERYEAR’S GLORY
If we know where we come from, we may better understand who we are.
The heritage club helps students in exploring the meaning of heritage and to appreciate the cultural interconnectedness of the past, present and the future. The club engages students in activities that promote students’ awareness of national identity and appreciate different culture and races of the world.

Photography is the beauty of life captured.
Photography club for students offers a range of exciting and valuable learning experiences allowing students to display their potential through creativity. With the proper camera and vision, a photograph can be worth a thousand words. It develops the aesthetic sense of the students.

SCRABBLE-MAKE THE MOST OF THE LETTERS
Scrabble is like life. You have got to be in it to win it.
The goal of Scrabble Club is to engage students in a fun filled activity that enhance and enrich the vocabulary and language skills. Keeping the benefits in mind, the school has taken up a step forward to provide a way for students and teachers to expand their spectrum and make learning a fun experience.

THEATRE-CREATIVE VISUALIZATION
There’s theatre in life, obviously and there is life in theatre.
Theatre club aims at stretching students’ imaginations and getting their creative juices flowing. Children are involved in every aspect of the theatre right from the script, costumes, sets, sound, lights and direction. Theatre build students’ self-confidence, creativity, teamwork abilities, self-discipline, and presentation skills.

ENISTEIN-ABODE OF SCIENCE ENTHUSIASTS
Always question, always wonder.
Children who have a scientific bent of mind, benefit a lot out of this club, because of the opportunities for experimentation, observation and analysis that go beyond the classroom. Einstein develops a scientific temperament, increases thinking and the spirit of enquiry and generating a love for science among the students in a simple fun filled way. The aim of the club is to provide platform for students to explore and discover new frontiers in the field of science.
