“Leaders become great not because of their power, but because of their ability to empower others.”

A workshop on ‘Leadership’ was conducted for the Student Council by the Academic Director and the school Counsellors together, to empower them to take charge of their responsibilities and help create a healthy supportive environment at school. It was an interactive session with activities that helped students to understand the importance, responsibilities and essential qualities of being a leader.

It is imperative that these students are to be prepared for the future so that they are ready to take up challenges that come their way. The responsibilities that they shoulder will help them to lead their peers and help create a disciplined environment at school.

The children thoroughly enjoyed the session and stated to carry their responsibilities efficiently.

An eminent author and the CEO of the Texas First Bank, Christopher C. Doyle, conducted a session on 19th January 2018. It was an interesting and informative session. He took us on a journey into a fascinating world where there is a blend of ancient secrets and science. For us it was like exploring the unexplored. We were transported into a different world of history. Every explanation had a scientific support to it.

He has presently three books to his credit, The Mahabharata Quest: The Alexander Secret, The Mahabharata Quest: The Secret Of The Druids, and The Secret Revealed. Picking out a few chapters from his book he took us to the BC’s and explained many mysteries behind the great pyramids of Egypt. The technology behind the sealed pyramids, and how only after a few thousand years, the Nat Geo sent ultrasonic waves to discover what was inside the pyramid but were disappointed to find nothing where as it held many secrets was wonderfully described.

He also explained us the secrets of many such monuments in Egypt and around the world that were built in and around 8000 BC. Then comes the question, ‘Was the science and technology of the BC’s so massive that they could build buildings of around 40 floors?’ This observation of him proves that our ancestors were a lot more than ordinary stone equipped people.

Then he took the students to a world of reality which in spite of its factual support from history always remained a mystery for us.  We were enlightened about the bravery of Alexander the Great and how he travelled for around 8 years and discovered India, but took a U turn as soon as he touched Punjab. Then he slowly connected the Mahabharata to the world history. He said Alexander had found the amrit {nectar}, which would make him immortal. In the Samudra Manthan saga in the Mahabharata immortality was the only thing he was lagging to become a God. So when he found the Amrit, he took it away without any war.

Then he enlightens us about some of the amazing types of Humans who existed in the BC’s, the Druids who were termed as sorcerers by many historians. They were considered to be having the power of controlling people’s mind and changing it according to their wishes. He gave us examples saying how the druids stopped wars just by walking around the war zone.

Many quarters of our brain were tickled by this informative roller coaster ride into history.  We were asked to be a part of the Quest club online to be a part of this magnificent journey. The session ended with an array of questions which the author answered to our satisfaction.

It was truly an amazing experience for the students which they would relish forever.

Choosing the Right Career – A workshop for Grade X

The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. - Steve Jobs

Career Counselling workshop was organised on 1st November, 2017. The workshop was conducted for Grade X students by Ms. Spandana from Career Buddy and the school counsellor Ms Shivani.

The main objective of the workshop was to guide students to make decisions with regard to their careers.

The resource person explained the students how assessments are being taken up to understand an individual’s characteristic traits. To get a hands on experience, she conducted the personality inventory in order to help the students get an overview of their personality traits and identify the options that would best suit them as an individual.

She also elucidated that if a student has a dream career, he/she may or may not have the required skills to achieve their goals. For this, the students are to identify the lack in them and hone their skills.

What is the role of leadership or the qualities of a good leader? Of course there are many books and workshops on the topic. Researchers who try to describe and predict good leaders disagree about many critical elements, however, they agree on many as well. Personal traits are important, acquired skills are important, and the situation for leadership is important. Some of the key concepts of leadership requirements are:

  • Commitment, perseverance, dedication
  • Risk-taking
  • Communication skills

Leadership training and development can maximize productivity, shape a positive culture and promote harmony. In order to inculcate these skills and qualities in the Student Council a leadership workshop was conducted by the school counselor Ms. Shivani. The workshop highlighted the qualities of a good leader through a power point presentation and an interesting activity. The Student Council was made to realize the importance of their post and what their role was in the school. They were also exhorted to be exemplary in their behavior and be responsible role models. All in all it was a fruitful session.

Personality Development workshop was organised for Grades IX  and X by Mr. Darpan Vasudev, Next Education on 7th April, 2017.
